| Sharon Silver loves to doodle |
In this world of electronic arts and design, where elaborate images can be created in minutes using software and a few mouse clicks... there remains the tactile artists who still love to get their hands dirty. I'm one of them. |
| Discovering light out of dark |
| Early in 1999 I was inspired by a fellow artist's study of light mediums on black paper. I bought silver and gold Gellyrolls, a pad of black paper....and started to doodle. I then found a set of the light metallic Gellyrolls and had even more fun. The result was a full portfolio of completed detailed calligraphic illustrations which some have described as: • magical • a flash back to biology class • reminiscent of the 60's • other • worldly • ocean floor sea life • organic and a few others along the same lines. I have been an incessant doodler for years, drawing elaborate words and designs on any blank surface that crossed my path. I've found the metallic pens on black and metallic papers to have a tranquilizing effect on me....almost a meditative experience...as I watch the light ink flow onto the dark surface and observe the emerging images. "Ice cream smooth" is no exaggeration when describing Gellyrolls. |
| A word about dark metalics and microns |
I was introduced to dark metallic Gellyrolls and the full color spectrum of Microns in the spring of 2000. I've found that these products work especially well together on smooth surfaced, uncoated or matte coated, writing or lithographic text and cover papers, most of which are available thorough your local commercial printer, office supply or art materials stores. |
