Artist Testimonial :

Editorial cartoonists are famous for closely guarding the identity of the pens we use. Once we find something that we like, we tend to stick with it for years, and hold it close to the vest (cap on of course). So it has been for me and the Sakura Gelly Roll Pens, and the Pigma Graphic 1. I find it a perfect width for my hand-drawn type, labels and word bubbles. I work pretty large, so the width of this pen agrees with the scale of my drawings. For cross-hatching I almost exclusively use the Gelly Roll. Again, I think this is a scale issue. The thickness of the line and the fact that the ink dries quickly and never smears makes it perfect for going over large areas with cross-hatching to achieve a medium gray. My name is Ed Hall and I am a syndicated Editorial Cartoonist from Jacksonville Florida. I have been creating political cartoons and satire for the last twenty years, and I have published two collections of my cartoons. I also do freelance political illustrations for publications all over America including The LA Times and The Washington Post. See many more of my cartoons and fine art drawings on my blog:
