As an artist, I am always looking for a good sketching pencil so I wanted to give the SumoGripTM pencils a try. I was able to find a clear blue .05 pencil with matching ballpoint pen, so I purchased one of each. I use the SumoGrip pencil in my sketching and drawing and really enjoy the feel of it as well as the nice eraser. Aside from my art work, I keep a journal and hand write many letters to my friends and relatives, so I really enjoy the pen as well. No word processor for me! I have always thought of good writing instruments as small luxuries and the SumoGrips have quickly become my favorites.
Tools & Technique
My favorite medium is pen and ink. I also use colored pencils with the ink and enjoy painting with water colors. All my work begins with a sketch. I usually use pencil for that part of the process. I enjoy using the SumoGrip pencils for sketching. They are retractable, so I can always carry one with me. They are comfortable to hold and I don't always draw holding the pencil as you would to write with it. Also, the nice oversized eraser is so convenient because I often draw with the eraser, creating highlights, as well as correcting mistakes. The eraser is white and does not damage the surface of my drawing paper. I use the SumoGrip ball point pen for sketching as well. Its feel is just like the pencil I'm used to sketching with and the ink flow is smooth and even. It's great for permanent sketches in my sketchbook. Both the SumoGrip pen and pencil make doing what I was born to do even more enjoyable.
I consider myself an open-minded and somewhat private person. I'm 30 something, married, and we have a 12 year old son who is the light of our lives. I'm an artist and have my own home business. I feel very fortunate that I'm able to make a career out of what I love to do. I adore animals, all animals. I'd have a zoo (with no fences of course) if we had room. For now we have two cats, Judy and Jennifer, a new puppy, Pepper who is a Snoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle Mix), a cockatiel, Koko, and a Zebra finch, Chip. They can be the best friends you'll ever make, so please remember to be kind to animals, domestic and wildlife. They all depend on us!
