Artist Testimonial :

The "feel" of the Pigma Brush Pen is very natural nearly equalling a conventional pointed artist brush. However, the synthetic tip does afford some very different brush techniques as seen in the K for the Kenya's Bakery logo.

Artist Statement :

As a sidebar, I rendered and designed this logo for Kenya Jackson, daughter of Gladys Knight. At the opening of Kenya's Bakery in Las Vegas, I was afforded the honor and privilege of meeting Ms Knight!

When viewing this logo, one immediately sees that it was executed very fast and spontaneously, probably less than 3 seconds. When folks are told this was rendered in 3 seconds, they ask how do I charge for 3 seconds of my time. Then they are apprised that I brush lettered perhaps 400-500 K's, taking many hours, choosing just the right one!

The typography underneath is a font called Eurostile which was combined with the digitization of the brushed K and saved as eps and jpg files.

The logo received 3 awards in 1998-2000 and published in 2 books. Ms Jackson and Knight were very pleased with this hand rendered logo.

The alphabet is an artform in and of itself…26 jewels evolving from pictographic markings. Each letter displaying a unique character evoking a somewhat different visual meaning when juxtaposed with its 25 counterparts.

I am lettering artist who employs sensitivity and passion of traditional and classic calligraphy coupled with over 30 years of design experience to produce penned and computer assisted art specimens.

Several calligraphy and design specimens are archived in The Smithsonian and Newberry Library. Much of my work has been published internationally.
