Artist Testimonial :

I love the metallic Gelly Rolls! The fluidity of the pens is superb. I use these pens in a variety of ways: 1) as a base color, 2) blended with a dry paint brush, and 3) repeated layering creates a raised surface. With the Gelly Rolls, I am able to mimic the appearance of the Icons of old with a new twist. After I have completed my drawing, I then use a variety of Micron ink pens to outline the work. Next I begin filling in the base colors. I then create highlights, shadows, and color variations by combining the Gelly Rolls with a dry brush. It is not uncommon for me to craft a hammered appearance by digging an outline into 400lb paper with a 7H pencil then repeatedly applying new layers of ink in the center of the outlined object. I also love the way the Stardust and Metallic Gelly Roll pens allow the viewer to experience my art work differently depending on the light source and the position of the viewer. Thank you so much – Sakura of America!

Artist Statement :

My art is an extension of my prayer life; in fact, I never know what any given art piece will look like. A concept, theme, figure drawing, person, or reading will catch my attention, generally, the themes are religious in nature and contain a message both for me and the viewer. Sometimes, I even wake up in the middle of the night with a drawing concept ready to be committed to paper. I am a drawer by nature - even my acrylic and watercolor pencil work appear to be a drawing with a brush. Each art piece has as many as 5 to 50 layers of work; and appear to change according to the light source and location to the viewer. This allows the viewer to enjoy the artwork differently throughout each day and season. May God be with you!

Follow each new piece as it is made at my Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/AngieFMichelliTrotter. I am working on a video to display the technique I use; in the meantime, you can watch on Facebook. Like the page and you will updates.
