- Permapaque® dual point markers in red, white and blue
- Gelly Roll® Stardust® in marine-star and red-star
- Lara's craft wood shapes 1-3/8" rounded starFi*1/8 heart Primitive star
- Hot glue gun
- Fi Dynamite button magnets from magnetic specialities
- Ruler or straight edge

| Lesson: |
- Introduction: Discuss and have Q & A about the symbols of America such as the United States Flag, Statue of Liberty, Uncle Sam, the Bald Eagle, etc. and what they mean to Americans and other nations.
- Have a class discussion on Patriotism appropriate for the grade level. Discuss ways to display patriotism and why or why not.

| Procedure |
- Apply two or three base coats of Permapaque White over wood piece.
- Using a straight edge and Permapaque Blue, outline a blue area for the field of stars. Then fill in.
- Using a straight edge, draw the first red stripe with Permapaque Red. Align the bottom edges of the stripe and the field of stars.
- Using Permapaque White, dot the first line of stars along the bottom of the blue area.
- Using a straight edge, draw in the remaining stripes with Permapaque Red. Then dot in the remaining stars with Permapaque White.
- Outline the field of stars with Gelly Roll Stardust in marine. Outline the red stripes with Gelly Roll Stardust red.
- Glue magnet to back of piece with hot glue gun.
- Make various red, white and blue designs with different Lara's Designs shapes. www.larascrafts.com
