Sakura of America Announces Winners

Winners Announced in Sakura’s Nationwide Cray-Pas Art Contest

For Immediate Release (Sakura of America - Hayward, CA) ---

Art materials manufacturer, Sakura of America, announced winners of its 11th annual Cray-Pas Wonderful, Colorful World Art Contest. Over 4,500 pieces of student art done in oil pastels were submitted to this year’s contest by U.S. and Canadian teachers. A judging panel of professional artists & art educators chose the three winning pieces in each of three grade level categories.

Michael Tai of Sharron Art Center in Piscataway, NJ won the first-place in the Kindergarten through 2nd grade category, Alexis Buckles of Sonoma Elementary in Modesto, CA won first-place in the 3rd through 5th grade category with artwork titled, “Evening Storm”, and Tyne Monet Brooks of L.J. Alleman in Lafayette, LA won first-place in the 6th through 8th grade level category with artwork titled “Snow Dance”. First-place students win a $200 U.S. Savings Bond, an award certificate, a shirt imprinted with winning artwork, a generous supply of Sakura art materials, products & gift certificates supplied by participating sponsors. Furthering Sakura’s goal of encouraging art education, teachers of winning students also win prizes. The teachers prizes include: a shirt imprinted with the winning student’s artwork, a generous supply of Sakura art materials, writing instruments, products & gift certificates supplied by participating sponsors.
